Rod Stewart thinks it's "important" to dress well for dinner every night.
The 70-year-old singer's wife Penny Lancaster, 44, has revealed her husband has "high standards" and follows a daily ritual that includes bathing and changing into smart clothes in preparation for their family meals.
During an appearance on the panel of UK TV show 'Loose Women', she said: "Even at home, every time before dinner he baths or showers, puts on a shirt, smart pants and I might be in my tracksuit and jeans. He just thinks it's important!
"He's a very stylish man and he comes from a certain generation because he is 70 now, and in those days people used to wear hats out and smart suits all the time. He takes pride in himself and that's what I respect."
Although Penny - who has two sons with Rod, Alastair, nine, and Aiden, four - appreciates the 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' hitmaker's sartorial efforts she insists he doesn't always get his fashion choices right.
She added: "Sometimes you get colours that are a bit wrong and there are too many spots and stripes but hey! He's Rod Stewart and he can get away with it. But I just admire his effort and style."
Penny also cheekily hinted she and Rod like make love in the day when he gets home from his concerts to make up for lost time.
She said: "I don't go to every show so I end up going to bed a little earlier. But at home, generally we go to bed at the same time and if we don't, then we just make up for it when the kids are at school."
She then added with a grin: "To make up for the extra sleep that we need!"
