Rod Stewart has described David Bowie as the "fearless leader of the pack".

The 71-year-old rocker broke into the music business in the UK at the exact same time as Bowie and the timeline for their ascension to become global superstars mirrored each other.
Following the news of the 'Heroes' songwriter's death on Sunday (10.01.16) from cancer at the age of 69, Rod has now taken to his Instagram account to praise his peer and champion his unparalleled talent.
Along with a photo of Bowie in his dressing room preparing to go on stage, the 'Maggie May' singer wrote: "Undeniably the fearless leader of the pack, David was the groundbreaking chameleon who impacted us all. Such a colossal loss."
Since Bowie passed countless musicians have paid tribute to him and thanked him for his songs and contribution to film and the arts.
Yoko Ono and her late husband John Lennon became friends with Bowie and she has praised him on a human level for his involvement in their son Sean's life following The Beatles star's assassination in December 1980.
Writing a blog post on her website (Imaginepeace.com), she revealed: "John and David respected each other. They were well matched in intellect and talent. As John and I had very few friends we felt David was as close as family. After John died, David was always there for Sean and me. When Sean was at boarding school in Switzerland, David would pick him up and take him on trips to museums and let Sean hang out at his recording studio in Geneva.
"For Sean this is losing another father figure. It will be hard for him, I know. But we have some sweet memories which will stay with us forever."
