Robin Thicke insists he does not twerk.
The 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker made light of the controversial performance at the MTV Video Music Awards this year which saw 20-year-old star Miley Cyrus gyrate up against him as she shook her bum and thrust her hips while squatting, in a new phenommenom which has been dubbed "twerking."
In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey he said: "People ask me if I twerk, and I'm like, Listen, I'm the twerkee. I don't twerk. I'm just twerked upon."
The 36-year-old singer didn't see the performance as sexual but says it was "fun", insisting he enjoyed his time on stage and was not paying attention to the blonde beauty's antics.
He explained: "Well, I was onstage, [so] I didn't see it. So to me, I'm walking out toward Miley, I'm not thinking sex, I'm thinking fun. ...I'm singing my butt off. I'm singing and I'm looking at the sky and I'm singing and I'm not really paying attention to all that. That's on her."
Robin previously admitted that he didn't mind if Miley - who bounded around the stage making sexual facial expressions while using a foam finger inappropriately - danced around him explicitly and was warned that she will undress on stage.
He said: "I spent my whole career playing it safe, being a gentleman, never doing anything controversial.
"They told me [beforehand] that Miley's going to take her clothes off and dance around and she might bend over ... I just said, 'I don't care, let's entertain the people.' "
