Just a week after Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton, 38, announced her eight-year marriage with husband Richie Myler, 31, had come to an end, it's been revealed that the rugby professional has now started a fresh relationship with 32-year-old Stephanie Thirkill.
What’s interesting about this new romance, is that Thirkill is the daughter of the president of the Leeds Rhinos club; the team which he plays for.
Friends of Myler had last week said he had been dating a 'young businesswoman' with sources saying their friendship blossomed, and they're now in 'the very early stages of a relationship'.
Skelton's short statement said she was "very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co parent our small children."
Those children are six-year-old Ernie, four-year-old Louis and, four-month-old Elsie Kate, who was born on December 31st, 2021.
Myler is now said to have flown off on holiday with his new partner, leaving Skelton "absolutely dumbstruck", according to an insider.
The sports star is yet to publicly comment on the breakdown of his marriage or indeed, reports that he is now dating a younger woman.
Skelton and Myler's relationship started in 2011 and their whirlwind romance saw them tie the knot at Kirkby Thore's St Michael's church just two years later, in Skelton's childhood village near Penrith.
She said at the time that the venue was chosen for sentimental reasons, as it was where all of her family were christened and, where her gran worked as a church organist.
The presenter wore a white long-lace dress with a silver satin belt around the waist, completing the look with a retro-style up-do, lace veil and beaded headband, with silver peep-toe heels to boot.
Myler went for a black suit and bow tie, with a white shirt, black pants and shiny black shoes.
Richie Myler appears to be doing the right thing in keeping quiet following the breakdown of his marriage. It would be disrespectful to his wife, Helen Skelton, to start publicly chatting about the things that have been going on behind closed doors.
Now that this new relationship is in the spotlight however, he may have no choice but to say something to the press, or post his own statement on social media. Let’s hope if he does go down that route, he keeps a level of respect for the mother of his children.
