Reese Witherspoon - visiting a Sudanese refugee camp in Kenya had a huge emotional impact on her and daughter Ava.

Reese Witherspoon took her 15-year-old daughter Ava to visit a Sudanese refugee camp in Kenya to research her new movie 'Inherent Vice' and admits it was "very emotional".

Witherspoon had said she didn't want to just do the part in Atlanta and go home to her life but wanted to see what that experience was like. After the visit she said it was very emotional, seeing over 250,000 people displaced, sleeping on concrete slabs, kids who were sick.

She says taking her teenage daughter was a descision that she did not regret adding 'Ava didn't say a word the whole day. I think it's going to affect her for a long time, as it will me'.

Children have technology that disconnects them from life and Witherspoon  felt that travel is the antidote to that. Saying 'As much of the world as you can show them is great."

Reese Witherspoon feels her career is firmly back on track after a string of flops in recent years.

With a combination of not making good choices when accepting new roles and continuing to play the dizzy' blonde ultimately took her career off track now she feels happy getting back to playing interesting, dynamic characters."
