Ray Winstone claims his wife would leave him if he ever came home in character.
The 'Noah' star, known for taking on mostly "tough guy" roles, first met his partner Elaine in 1979, while filming 'That Summer,' and credits her for helping him to relax after a tough day of filming.
Asked about how he gets out of character, the 57-year-old British actor told BANG Showbiz at the UK premiere of the new biblical epic at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square on Monday night (31.03.14): "Every job is a different job and I think I approach it in a different way. I don't take it home with me because the characters I play, I wouldn't be married very long if I did. What I like to do is laugh, if I'm playing a bit I like to laugh a lot and take it right down there."
The 'Snow White and the Huntsman' actor had no problem growing a beard for the movie, as he likes to sport a more dishevelled look when he has time off, but was relieved to finally shave it off afterwards.
He said: "When I'm not working I grow a beard anyway. The only false bits on it were the two prongs. I had that for about four months. I felt like an old rock."
Other stars on the red carpet for the screening included Emma Watson, Russell Crowe, Douglas Booth, Jennifer Connelly, director Darren Aronofsky and former 'Made in Chelsea' star Kimberley Garner.
