Queen Latifah officiated over the marriages of 33 couples at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (26.01.14), with the newlyweds
Queen Latifah - who was recently deputised by Los Angeles County to legally conduct wedding ceremonies - officiated over the nuptials of both gay and straight pairings while Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performed their equality anthem 'Same Love' with Mary Lambert and Trombone Shorty.
With the stage at Los Angeles' Staples Center set to resemble a chapel complete with stained glass windows, Latifah said: "We are gathered here to celebrate love and harmony in every key and every colour."
Many of the couples and audience members - including Keith Urban - were visibly moved to tears during the ceremony.
Following the nuptials, Madonna - clad in a white suit - stepped through a neon alter to sing her 1986 hit 'Open Your Heart' to the newlyweds, which included Ryan's sister Laura and her boyfriend.
Katy Perry - who is dating John Mayer and was previously married to Russell Brand - later sent her congratulations to the couples and revealed she had caught one of the bouquets thrown into the crowd, a tradition which claims the person catching the flowers will be the next to wed.
She wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of her with the flowers: "Congrats to all the #samelove couples tonight. You had me in tears of joy for y'all! Also... Look who caught the bouquet!!! #okuuuurrrr (sic)"
