Prince's songs were never meant to be overly sexual.
The 'U Got The Look' hitmaker - who tragically passed away at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota on Thursday (21.04.16) - was known for his explicit tracks but insists people always "hear the sex in my songs much more than I ever write it".
Speaking candidly in 1997 in a previously unreleased interview with Top of the Pops magazine as published in The Observer newspaper, he said: "People hear the sex in my songs much more than I ever write it. If you listen to the words in Sexy MF, you'll see they're about monogamy rather than promiscuous sex."
Prince was cremated at a private service on Saturday (23.04.16) but the cause of his death is not likely to be revealed for a number of weeks.
His publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said: "A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye. Prince's remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private.
"We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time. The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy. An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration."
