Peter Facinelli and his ex-wife Jennie Garth still have a lot of love for each other.
The 43-year-old 'Twilight' actor was married to the 'Beverly Hill 90210' actress from 2001 to 2013, however, Jennie filed for divorce and the amicable exes came to a settlement, and both have since been in relationships but Peter admitted he needed time to heal following the split.
Speaking to LaPalme magazine, Peter said: "Once a break-up happens, you need to go through the healing process first.
"Love is blind and hindsight is 20/20. People come into your life for a reason and relationships can change and just because we aren't living together, doesn't mean you can't love each other. I think once, there was a time where we had to learn that we had to be able to move forward with love and respect."
The couple are both committed to co-parenting their three daughters - Fiona, 11, Lola, 14, and Luca, 20 - and Peter revealed they both share the children "50/50".
He said: "I get the kids on week on and one week off so we share the kids 50/50, but if they have games and events we are both there.
"We talk all the time about co-parenting and the kids. I really like her husband and I think he's a great guy."
Despite the couple both moving on, they have remained close friends since their marriage ended and even spent last Halloween together.
Jennie, 45, tied the knot with her actor-and-producer boyfriend David Abrams, 36, back in 2015 at the star's ranch in Los Olivos, California.
The loved-up pair met in 2014 on a blind date and Dave proposed in March of this year.
Peter is now back on the market after ending his engagement to Jaime Alexander in February last year.
