The reality TV star turns 40 on February 27 and to mark the milestone he is planning to indulge in four different activities – one to mark each decade he has been alive - and Sir David Attenborough’s recent 'Africa' TV documentary series has inspired him to arrange a one-week trip to the continent to see all the wildlife.
He said: "It’s my 40th birthday next week, and I can’t believe it’s come round so quickly! I’ve decided to do four things – one to mark each decade – which will incorporate all the things and people I love.
"On the weekend after my birthday, I’m going to do something fun with the kids – possibly camping or trekking, but definitely something outdoorsy and fun. But the big thing is that I’m hoping to go on safari in Africa for a week!
"As I’ve told you before, I want to do something that will get my adrenaline pumping, and I’m sure all the lions and leopards out there will do the trick! I absolutely loved David Attenborough’s recent show, Africa, and I reckon that’s probably inspired me. I think we’ll go in March, and it’ll be a double celebration because my brother Chris turns 50 this year."
Peter – who has two children, Junior, seven, and five-year-old Princess - is also planning to celebrate his 40th by facing his fear of heights and doing a skydive, as well as enjoying a meal with his family, friends, and girlfriend Emily MacDonagh on his actual birthday night.
He added: "On the evening of my birthday, I’m going to have a low-key dinner with the children, Emily, my closest friends and family, which will be really special.
"It crossed my mind whether to have a big party with a marquee and a band, but I’m just not in the right place for that kind of celebration at the moment.
"I’m not sure about the fourth thing yet, but I’m thinking about doing a skydive to face my fear of heights head-on …"
