Pete Davidson is “really happy” for his ex-girlfriend Cazzie David after the release of her new book, ‘No One Asked For This’.
The 26-year-old actress broke up with Pete shortly before he started dating Ariana Grande - whom he later got engaged to before their October 2018 split - and her recently released book of essays features one entry that addresses their seemingly messy split.
And although their breakup has been documented in the book, Pete has now said he’s proud of Cazzie for releasing a “really funny book”, as he wished her the best of luck with the tome’s success.
He told Insider: “I’m really happy for her. It did well, and, you know, we’re cool. I wish her nothing but the best. I think she wrote a really funny book and I hope it stays on the chart.”
Meanwhile, Cazzie recently said she woke up "screaming in agony" thinking about Pete’s romance with the ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker, who is now engaged to her new beau, Dalton Gomez.
She said: "It was a really pivotal moment in my life and writing about it has caused me a ton of anxiety, especially because I talk so much about hating the attention it brought me.
"Why would I bring more attention to myself by writing about it? But there’s nothing that’s gonna be worse than what I already experienced with that."
Cazzie found the situation especially tough to deal with because Pete and Ariana's romance was so high profile.
But her dad, comedy star Larry David, urged her to move on.
In her book, she recalled him saying: "CAZZIE, COME ON! YOUR ANCESTORS SURVIVED THE HOLOCAUST! (sic)”
And although she found the split difficult, Cazzie and Pete are now on good terms, and she even thanked the ‘Saturday Night Live’ star in the acknowledgements of her book.
She wrote: “Pete. I love you. Thank you for being encouraging when you did not have to be. Your bravery inspires me and your friendship means the world to me.”
