The 23-year-old singer - who makes up one quarter of Little Mix alongside Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - is rumoured to be dating the England and Arsenal sportsman, and have a lot of "chemistry", although it is "very early days".
Speaking to The Sun Online about the 'Shout Out To My Ex' hitmaker's love life, a source said: "It's very early days between Perrie and Alex..
"There's certainly some chemistry there and they've enjoyed spending time together."
And Perrie - who was recently linked to actor Luke Pasqualino following her split from her ex-fiancé Zayn Malik last year - wants to keep her romance private because she doesn't want her relationships to become "public knowledge", which has led the pair to not follow one another on any social media platforms in fear of "giving the game away".
The source continued: "Both are keen to keep the relationship on the down low, they don't follow each other on social media as they know a connection might give the game away.
"After what happened with Zayn, Perrie doesn't want her love life to become public knowledge."
Although the pair are trying to keep their budding love under wraps, it has been reported the blonde beauty was spotted watching the North London derby in the 23-year-old Premier League player's box at the Emirates Stadium, London.
And Alex is adamant football is his "main focus" and he refuses to get distracted from his career.
A separate source said: "Alex's main focus is on his football and becoming a first team regular at Arsenal.
"He won't let anything off the field distract him from that."
Meanwhile Perrie has revealed she found it difficult getting over her break up from the 'PillowTalk' hitmaker who ended their two-year engagement over the phone.
Speaking previously, she said: "It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that."
