Penny Lancaster had a "panic attack-type of meltdown" during lockdown after running out of patience with her family.
The 'Loose Women' star admits she "wasn’t in control and just broke" one night in front of her husband Sir Rod Stewart and their children because her "hormones are changing so much".
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, she said: "I had a panic attack-type of meltdown during lockdown. Usually I have a good threshold when it comes to being patient with people. That went out the window.
"I wasn’t in control and I just broke. The kids were arguing. I’d done these individual chicken pies and one of them got thrown across the kitchen. I screamed, then I cried. The boys came running over to comfort me and I apologised. I’ve had to explain to Rod and the boys that sometimes I might get angry and cry because my hormones are changing so much."
Penny recently revealed she is going through the menopause.
Speaking about her "horrific" symptoms, she said: "I mean millions of women go through it, it's nothing special but, God, it's tough. I woke up sweating. Horrific. I actually thought, 'Is this Covid-19?' I had all the menopause symptoms - burning up, feeling wiped out, mood swings that are off the scale. I've wanted to scream. You don't know if it's just these times we are in. But eventually I had some tests. Yes, I'm in the menopause.' I had a period which lasted just two days in March, and then I woke up sweating. Then I found out I was in menopause. Rod's been brilliant actually, but it's hard for a man to understand, isn't it? As well as the sweats, I have to keep explaining why I can become so cross all of a sudden."
