Peaches Geldof was a heroin addict, an inquest into her death has heard. The 25-year-old mother-of-two was killed by high purity heroin after her body became intolerant of the drug.
The mother-of-two, who tragically died at the age of 25 in April, had been taking substitute drug methadone in the two-and-a-half years before her untimely demise.
Peaches' grieving husband Thomas Cohen - the father of her sons Astala, two, and 15-month-old Phaedra - told the inquest today (23.07.14) his wife had started taking heroin again in February and the drugs were of high purity.
Thomas also revealed how he witnessed Peaches trying to flush drugs down the toilet at their home in Wrotham, Kent, South East England.
According to evidence presented at the inquest, held in Gravesend Old Town Hall in Kent, Peaches' body had become intolerant of heroin after she successfully overcame a past addiction and so the high purity of the drugs she was taking had a fatal effect.
Thomas confirmed he had taken his eldest son to stay with his parents on the weekend of Peaches' death and said she seemed fine when he spoke to her on the phone. The rocker became concerned when he couldn't reach his wife by phone and found her body the next day, April 7, slumped on a bed.
The inquest also heard drug paraphernalia was found in a box in the room where Peaches' body was found and a post-mortem examination discovered puncture marks on her body.
