The 56-year-old singer-songwriter has claimed that as he's got older, he's increasingly attached less importance to what other people think of him and his music.

He shared: "These days, I don't give as much of a s**t what people think. Maybe you earn that right if you live long enough."

Paul explained that while he no longer needs to work, he retains a love of music and working with the people who've supported his career.

He told the Observer newspaper: "I'm not like super, super-rich. Don't get me wrong, I live very well and I am grateful for that, but if I stopped I'd have to get rid of all the people who work with me. I'd have to get rid of my studio [Black Barn in Surrey, South East England]. And I don't want to."

However, the rocker claimed that self-doubt has stopped him from becoming "an interstellar, mega-superstar".

He explained: "I've always had an element of self-doubt, and that's probably one of the reasons why - not that I'm in any way unhappy about it - I've never been an interstellar, mega-superstar. Because you can only really do that when you're 100% sure about what you're doing."
