Paul Walker's family were reportedly blindsided by the news that speed caused his fatal car crash.

The 'Fast and the Furious' actor perished alongside his friend Roger Rodas, who was driving when the Porsche Carrera GT they were travelling in lost control and crashed in Santa Clarita, California on November 30, and investigators released a report on Tuesday (25.03.14) that concluded excessive speed caused the accident, as there was no evidence of mechanical failure.

A source close to the late actor's family told gossip website TMZ.com that they feel totally betrayed by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department because they found out the cause of the crash via the media.

The official report stated that Roger was driving between 81 and 94 MPH when he lost control going around a curve and smashed into a light pole, which had a speed limit sign of 45 MPH, before the vehicle burst into flames.

The family are very upset that they didn't get an advance courtesy call before the findings were made public.

The insider said the family waited months for the outcome of the investigation and feel that law enforcement acted coldly by not reaching out to them.

Paul is survived by his parents, Paul Walker Sr. and Cheryl Walker, and his 15-year-old daughter Meadow Rain Walker, whom he named the sole beneficiary of his $25 million fortune in his will.
