The 'Boyhood' actress has agreed a deal with publishers Random House to pen a memoir about her "unconventional family" - including her grandfather Cliff Arquette and father Lewis Arquette - life in Hollywood and raising her children Enzo, 26, and Harlow, 12.

It is also likely to touch on her marriages to Thomas Jane and Nicolas Cage.

Patricia said in a statement: "Over the years, the public has come to know aspects of me through my roles in film and television. Writing a memoir will be a new and intimate artistic journey for me, and I hope to bring to it the same honesty I have always sought to bring to my work as an actor."

The publishers have promised the as-yet untitled book will be a "remarkable" read.

Random House publisher Susan Kamil said in a statement: "Patricia Arquette is a remarkable woman and the instant empathy audiences feel when they see her work on screen is completely evident on the page.

"The material I read is revelatory and deeply moving. Not a surprise from an actress of such nuance and intelligence."
