Pamela Anderson wanted to turn the obsession about her "boobs and boyfriends" onto saving animals.
The 'Baywatch' star had always been keen to work with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and in a letter she penned over 25 years ago, she urged the charity to "use" her fame and attention to raise awareness of the need to protect animals.
In an 1995 letter published recently on her foundation's website, she wrote: "Dear PETA, I’m in a TV show called 'Baywatch' and the press is obsessed with my personal life. I’d really like to divert some of the attention to things more important than my boobs or my boyfriends. Can we join forces? I’ve been an animal lover and a PETA member since I was a kid, sending in rolled up quarters, and I’ve always wanted to get more involved. Please use me. Love, Pamela Anderson (sic)"
Meanwhile, Pamela, who is an honorary director at PETA, recently offered to help Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau become vegan.
The 48-year-old politician invested $100 million in the vegan industry earlier this year and at the time, the 'Baywatch' star offered to help him to give up meat forever.
Pamela, an honorary director at PETA, wrote to the politician: "Sensuality includes being engaged in the world and caring about others' feelings, and nothing is sexier than compassion. Your recent decision to invest another $100 million in (Canada's) mushrooming plant-based industries fits that description. Were you to drop meat and dairy from your personal diet - which I so hope you will - I would be honoured to be your mentor and to suggest some of the tasty, diverse vegan foods proudly produced in Canada. Your fiscally responsible move not only creates good jobs for Canadians but also spares countless animals a terrible life and death. As COVID-19 has exposed serious health risks associated with factory farms and slaughterhouses, the world needs more sensible leaders like you, who are willing to embrace clean, compassionate, and clever food solutions."
