Orlando Bloom's son has made him much more sensitive.
The 'Lord of the Rings' star - who split from Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr in October after three years of marriage - credits their three-year-old son, Flynn, for inspiring him to do more charity work.
The 37-year-old actor, who is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, visited a refuge camp near the Jordan-Syria border in April, where he met families uprooted by the civil war and admits it had a huge impact on him.
He told PEOPLE magazine: "It's hard to describe when you see a child whose eyes have seen death - there's something in their eyes. They look displaced."
He added: "I have a three year old myself, and it breaks your heart. My son could be one of those children. They are so vulnerable, and they shouldn't be ignored."
The British actor recently bought a new $4.875 million bachelor pad in Tribeca, New York City so he and his estranged wife can easily continue to co-parent Flynn.
The former couple are still on good terms, but the Australian supermodel, 31, admitted she is still adjusting to being single again.
She said: "We all have bad days and negative emotions but I've realised it's important to sit with it and let it pass, and if it doesn't pass, choose a thought that will help it pass. Focus on what it is that you're grateful for. Having perspective is key."
