Oliver Hudson is "mending" his relationship with his estranged father.
The 'Scream Queens' actor and his sister Kate Hudson were publicly disowned by their dad Bill following remarks they made on social media on Father's Day in June but Oliver - who wished his sibling a 'Happy Abandonment Day' - has no regrets about the spat as it has finally instigated "amazing" conversation between himself and his erstwhile parent.
Asked if he regretted the post, he told 'Watch What Happens Live' host Andy Cohen: "No, and I'll tell you why. I was actually just talking to you guys about this. It actually started a dialogue.
"I haven't talked to my father in 12 years.
"In my sort of dark, crazy sense of humour, I posted this 'Happy Abandonment Day' thing, which, you know, everyone went crazy about. I was just trying to be funny.
"At the end of the day it was a good thing. We're communicating now.
"I had an amazing three-hour conversation with him. We're texting and we're trying to see each other. We might be mending something."
However, the 39-year-old actor seemed uncertain his sister would be as willing to call a truce with musician Bill.
When Andy suggested Kate might "get in on the action", he simply replied "We'll see."
Bill's dispute with his kids came after Kate paid tribute to stepfather Kurt Russell on Father's Day, while Oliver wished her a "Happy Abandonment Day".
Speaking afterwards, the musician said: "I say to them now, 'I set you free'. I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own.
"I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth."
