Nicola Coughlan went through "such an adjustment" after finding global fame in 'Bridgerton'.
The 37-year-old actress was mostly known to British audiences for her role as Clare Devlin in the sitcom 'Derry Girls' when she was cast as Penelope Featherington in the Netflix period drama and the show became such a success amid the COVID-19 lockdowns that she suddenly found herself becoming known around the world.
Speaking on UK TV show 'This Morning', she said: It was really, really strange. It was such an adjustment because it sort of came out and we heard all these numbers, 82 million people in month one and I couldn't compute that. Then, going back into the world being so much more recognisable I was like 'Oh right, oh, this is quite a big show then.'"
The 'Big Mood' star - who also appeared alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the 2023 smash 'Barbie' - will appear in the third season of 'Bridgerton' later this year and revealed that the new batch of episodes is even more "saucy" than before and that she has got "better" at filming sex scenes with her Luke Newton, who plays her on-screen lover Colin Bridgerton, even though she found them "nerve-wracking" at first.
She added: "I think we've won the sauciness battle, yeah. It's really nerve-wracking but I've known Luke for four years, and he's a really nice guy. I t was worse at the beginning and better in reality because we could have a laugh about it. We had an amazing intimacy co-ordinator. It's like a stunt co-ordinar for sexy scenes. Luke and I had a lot of say in what we wanted to do and how we wanted things to play out."
