The 22-year-old singer thinks the fact acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan cast his One Direction bandmate in his upcoming movie 'Dunkirk' proves his pal is a "good actor" and he can't wait to see his friend in action.

He said: "I'll tell you what, if Christopher Nolan takes you on you must be a good actor. I'm looking forward to seeing it, it's going to be an unbelievable movie but when one of your mates is in it then it's going to be even better.

"I think he is going to do well. I actually met this guy on the Tube the other day who's doing special effects on the movie and he told me that, yeah, apparently Harry is a good actor."

However, Niall - who has used One Direction's break to set up a golf talent management company and charity called Horan & Rose - won't follow his friend and doesn't think a career in Hollywood would suit him because of the long days and months away from home.

He added: "I don't think I would have the patience for acting, spending all that time on set and stuff like that."

Meanwhile, Harry recently ditched his signature long curly locks in favour of a neat haircut for the movie, in which he stars alongside the likes of Hollywood royalty Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy and Kenneth Brannagh.

And despite knowing it was a necessity, Niall thinks Harry, also 22, was gutted to let them go.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I'd imagine he was pretty nervous. He spent about two years growing that so I wouldn't say he was too happy about it but it is what it is, he's in a movie now."
