The 47-year-old actress will star opposite Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the upcoming Netflix drama series, which is based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels, from David E. Kelley and A+E Studios.

Netflix announced the casting of Neve on Monday (01.02.21), and confirmed she will be playing Maggie McPherson, a passionate Deputy District Attorney who was previously married to lead character Mickey Haller, played by Manuel.

According to Variety, Neve had been in negotiations to join the series for a couple of months, after having been offered the role in the project’s previous incarnation at CBS last year.

The 10-episode first season will be based on the second book in ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ series, ‘The Brass Verdict’.

The show is being written and executive produced by David E. Kelley and showrunner Ted Humphrey, and revolves around the character of Mickey Haller, an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles.

David and Ted will be joined by fellow executive producers Michael Connelly and Ross Fineman.

As of the time of writing, the character of Lorna – Mickey’s second wife and constant confidante – is currently being cast.

Meanwhile, Neve is also set to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming ‘Scream 5’, over a decade after the last instalment was released in 2011.

‘Scream 5’ will hit screens in January 2022, and will be the first in the franchise not directed by Wes Craven, following his passing in 2015.

Speaking about the project – which is instead being helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – Neve said in November: “I had been really apprehensive about doing one of these films without Wes. The directors actually sent me a letter when the offer was sent and said the reason they are directors is because of Wes. So they’re even so honoured to even be asked to make this film, and that they’re such huge fans of him and the films themselves, and of the cast, and that they really wanted to honour his voice, which I really, really believe they did.”
