Neil Young has reportedly filed for divorce from Pegi Young.
The 68-year-old 'Heart of Gold' hitmaker filed a petition to dissolve his 36-year marriage to the 61-year-old singer, with whom he has son Ben and daughter Amber, in their hometown of San Mateo, California on July 29.
A preliminary hearing will take place on December 12, according to RollingStone.com.
A spokesperson for the former couple, who tied the knot in 1978 and first met when Pegi was a waitress at a diner near Neil's ranch, declined to comment.
Pegi, who was the inspiration for some of Neil's most romantic hits, including 'Once an Angel,' and 'Unknown Legend,' began working as his back-up singer after making her debut on stage with him at the Oscars in 1994.
They last performed together at their annual Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California last October.
The duo set up the Bridge School in 1986 after being inspired by the lack of educational opportunities for Ben, who suffers from cerebral palsy.
They were scheduled to perform at Farm Aid in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 13, but Pegi recently backed out of the event.
