Nathan Sykes "surprised" himself with how open he was on his new album.
The 'Kiss Me Quick' star admits he penned a number of tracks about his personal experiences but finds it "tricky" to make it less obvious who he's referring to.
He said: "There's a lot of personal stories in there that I never thought I'd tell people. I never thought I'd be able to pour my heart out so much.
"Then day after day I was surprising myself. It's been a lot of fun. I'll tell you what the tricky bit is: trying not to make it too obvious who the songs are about."
The 22-year-old singer also revealed the songs on his new LP aren't just defined to one genre.
He added to Fuse TV: "It's pop music, it's got a bit of soulful touch to it. There's like elements of R&B and Jazz in there as well. I think just because those are things I listened to whilst I was growing up. But I think, all in all, it's definitely a pop album."
Meanwhile, Nathan previously revealed his album has been finished - and then unfinished - twice already.
He shared: "The album's been finished twice - and then unfinished. The first time it finished, it was the label really thinking it was finished, and I was like, 'No, not yet. I need to go back to L.A. to write a couple of songs.'
"Then I decided top of the year that I wanted to write a couple more songs. Because I've grown up a lot since I started writing the album."
