Amy Winehouse's father Mitch doesn't want her to win British Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards tonight (24.02.16).

The 'Back To Black' singer - who won the award in 2007 - tragically passed away at the age of just 27 in 2011 from accidental alcohol poisoning and her father is adamant she shouldn't get the posthumous prize, because the nomination sprung from 'Amy', the controversial documentary released last year about her life and death.

Mitch - who revealed the family haven't been invited to the prestigious music event at London's O2 - even said 'Hello' hitmaker Adele deserves the prize more, and explained: "Because it is as a result of the film, the soundtrack of the film, by all really Adele should win it hands down shouldn't she?

"But I'm not sure how people win the BRIT awards I'm not sure whether it's on the number of albums sold - I haven't got a clue."

Amy's father confessed it felt strange and "weird" to see Amy nominated five years after her death, but he's proud that she is still being recognised for her amazing music.

Speaking on UK TV show 'This Morning', he said: "We have Jess Glynne who is acting ambassador for the [Amy Winehouse] Foundation, and we have got Adele, and then we've got Amy.

"At least she is being nominated for her music for the soundtrack on the film, so that is quite positive and it just shows you that Amy is still up for awards even five years after her passing. "

As well as Amy, Jess and Adele, Florence + the Machine and Laura Marling are also in the running for the award.
