Miley Cyrus said to be "extremely angry" over Liam Hemsworth's relationship with Eiza Gonzalez so soon after calling off their  troubled engagement last week.

Miley Cyrus, 20, has put on a brave face after pictures of Hemsworth kissing the Mexican actress surfaced only a day after the couple confirmed the end of their four year relationship.

Sources say: "Miley is extremely angry. She's saying she doesn't care about Liam, that she's better off without him, all that kind of stuff. But the truth is she's pretty devastated."

Cyrus gave a heartbreaking and tearful rendition of her latest single 'Wrecking Ball' at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Liam and Miley in happier times

The source continued: "She totally believed that no matter what happened, she and Liam would work it all out. She thought he was her soul mate. Him just walking away like this and not fighting for her, is heartbreaking."

Miley though has kept hold of her 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring given to her by Liam when he proposed in May 2012, reported to be valued at $100,000.

An insider told E! News: "The ring has not been returned to the jeweller, Neil Lane. Generally, the protocol is for the bride to keep the ring. It's up to her whether or not she wants to return it or keep it as a memento.

"My guess is, she'll hold onto it as a keepsake."
