Mick Jagger has paid tribute to "true original" David Bowie.
David's tragic death was announced on Monday (11.01.16) after revelations that he had been battling cancer for 18 months.
Following his passing, hordes of celebrities took to Twitter to pay their respects, with Rolling Stones frontman Mick sharing a touching post on Monday night.
Alongside a black and white picture of himself and David, Mick wrote: "David was always an inspiration to me and a true original. He was wonderfully shameless in his work.
"We had so many good times together. He was my friend, I will never forget him."
The Beatles frontman Paul McCartney also alerted fans to a tribute post on his website, in which he wrote: "Very sad news to wake up to on this raining morning. David was a great star and I treasure the moments we had together. His music played a very strong part in British musical history and I'm proud to think of the huge influence he has had on people all around the world.
"I send my deepest sympathies to his family and will always remember the great laughs we had through the years. His star will shine in the sky forever."
Yoko Ono, who was married to Paul's late bandmate John Lennon, posted a picture of herself and John with David on her Instagram page.
She captioned the shot: "As John & I had very few friends, we felt David was as close as family. Sweet memories will stay with us forever."
