Michelle Heaton is “doing great” in rehab.
The Liberty X singer checked into a clinic last month to receive treatment for alcohol dependency but will return home to husband Hugh Hanley and their kids, Faith, nine, and seven-year-old A.J. next week.
The 41-year-old star’s friends are “really proud” of her for seeking help for her problem and think she’s back on the right track.
Kirsty Shaw Rayner – who is in regular contact with her famous friend – told Closer magazine: “Michelle’s doing great – she’s feeling brave, strong, confident and focused.
“She has people around her who love her so much that they wouldn’t let her fail.
“Everyone is really proud of her. We call her ‘Wonder Woman Shell’ – which is her Instagram handle – because of her bravery.
“She has shown that same grit and determination again and again.”
Michelle – who had a double mastectomy and hysterectomy in 2015 to reduce her risk of cancer after discovering she carried the BRCA2 gene – hit rock bottom when she began feeling “lost” during the lockdown which was implemented in the UK to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Kirsty said: “Michelle lost sight of herself and we lost our Michelle.
“Lockdown played a big part in the pressures.
“Without her usual routine and not being busy, she was functioning from day-to-day. COVID hit the performing arts entertainment sector really hard.
“It’s been an incredibly difficult decade for Michelle, going through all she has, juggling work, a young family and her health – that’s a lot to contend with.”
But after having treatment, the ‘Just a Little Bit’ singer is focusing on the future.
Kirsty said: “Michelle can’t wait to be reunited with her family and loved ones.
“She is longing to get back to work again, which will have her back on track…
“The pandemic has been tough for everybody – but Michelle’s a fighter. She’s shown she’s a real-life warrior by being brave enough to get help for her issues.”
