Matt Cardle always dreamed of kissing a Spice Girl.
The 'When We Collide' singer has sparked rumours he's dating Mel C after the pair passionately locked lips in their new single 'Loving You', but although he's remaining silent on their relationship status, he'd always planned to smooch a member of the 90s pop group.
Speaking on UK TV show 'This Morning', he said: "Well, it's a plan I'd been working on for a while!"
The 30-year-old musician - who won 'The X Factor' in 2010 - initially asked the 39-year-old singer if she would practice the steamy kiss alone in his dressing room before they did it in front of the cameras because he was feeling anxious about the romantic scene.
He explained: "It was very awkward and it was a bit of an odd question to ask anyone in any situation and its nerve racking kissing someone anyway for the first time, especially when there's camera's and stuff around, I just said shall we just get this done first and see how it works!"
The pair - who surprised fans after they kissed on stage following a performance last week - have developed a strong bond since deciding to team up for the track, but are keen to keep their romance baffling for a little while longer.
Mel explained: "I love Matt to bits ... We get on so well and we've had so much fun working together that we've decided to be mysterious about the truth behind anything going on!"
