Meghan Trainor didn't think Harry Styles even knew she existed before they worked together.
Meghan Trainor has admitted she was "very impressed" with Harry Styles' song-writing ability when they worked together, but she was shocked he even knew who she was.
The 21-year-old star - who shot to fame last year when her single 'All About That Bass' hit the number one spot around the world - has teamed up with the One Direction singer to write a song, which is yet to be recorded, and when she got over the shock she was "very impressed" with his songwriting ability.
She said: "I had no idea he knew I existed and apparently he was a fan and one of our agents hooked us up and got us a session and we just wrote one evening.
"It was unbelievable he's a very, very talented songwriter. I was very impressed.
"I've got it on my phone. It's great; I listen to it all the time ... I'm trying to write with every person from every genre ... but I wanna show people I could do a country song, I can do a ukulele song and then an 'All About That Bass' throwback song."
While Meghan has only released one album, her debut record 'Title', earlier this month, she already feels like she has "made it" in the music industry and has likened her rise to fame to being on a rocket and "holding on for dear life".
She said: "I feel like a pop star. I feel like I made it ... I don't know, they say I'm on this rocket ship and I'm just buckling my belt and holding on for dear life. It's so exciting though."
The star received a Record of the Year nomination for the Grammy Awards for her hit single and while she admits it is a "dream come true" to be recognised for the accolade, she is "nervous" about the ceremony because she hasn't decided what to wear.
Speaking on BBC Radio 1, she added: "I have no idea what I'm wearing. They claim that someone's going to build one for me ... I wasn't nervous until I saw the Golden Globes and everyone was all over Lorde saying, 'What's she gonna wear.' "
