Matthew Perry's mom feels "there was an inevitability" to his death.
The 'Friends' actor died in October 2023, aged 54, from the acute effects of ketamine, and Suzanne Morrison has now revealed that she had a heartfelt conversation with her son shortly before he passed away.
During an appearance on 'TODAY', Suzanne shared: "He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now'.
"It was almost as though it was a premonition of something. I didn’t think about it at the time but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that? It’s been years'.
"I think there was something … there was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly. But he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore.’ And it worried me."
The actor - who was best known for playing Chandler Bing in the sitcom 'Friends' - was found unresponsive in a hot tub in his Los Angeles-area home.
Marta Kauffman - who co-created 'Friends' - subsequently insisted that Matthew should be remembered as a "funny" man who "brought joy to everybody".
Marta told The Times newspaper: "He is the one I had the most contact with.
"About two weeks before [he died] he and I were FaceTiming and he seemed really good.
"Two things come to mind [about how to celebrate him]: one of them is to donate to drug treatment centres - let’s fight the disease. And the second way is to watch 'Friends' and remember him not as a man who died like that but as a man who was hilariously funny and brought joy to everybody."
