The 'Great British Bake Off' host, 80, may spend hours in the run up to the celebratory day whipping up delicious traditional festive treats but she likes to make sure she and her family divulge a simple weightless meal the night before.

The talented food critic shared her tradition with Liza Tarbuck on her show 'Mary Berry: At Home For Christmas,' admitting she uses "smoked and unsmoked haddock, and lots of hard boiled eggs, just the way her husband likes it."

And that's not the only tradition the Queen of Baking has, as she also makes sure she has a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle set up in the kitchen in case the men feel "a bit spare" when the ladies of the family are dishing up the Christmas dinner.

'Mary Berry: At Home For Christmas' will see the star share her recipes for the ideal Christmas, including her very own chestnut and apricot stuffing, frangipane mince pies, leek and stilton soup, mincemeat loaves and mulled wine.

But that's not all as she also gives listeners on BBC Radio 2 her top tips for the perfect roast potatoes and parsnips.

She said: "Christmas is a time for sharing and a great excuse to indulge your family and friends with your favourite recipes. There are so many wonderful ingredients to use and dishes to make."

'Mary Berry: At Home For Christmas' will air on BBC Radio 2 on Christmas Eve (24.12.15) from 12pm until 2pm.
