Marylin Manson says mistaking songs for being suicidal is missing the point of art; it's just a "state of thought".
The 'Sweet Dreams' hitmaker - who has spoken outwardly about self-harm in the past - has assured fans he is not suicidal and that if he was to take his own life, he would "take everyone" with him.
Speaking at the Cannes Lions advertising festival on Tuesday (23.06.15) he said: "You might mistake a song for being suicidal, but that's a state of thought. It's the whole point of art. Rather than doing something you just express it."
Meanwhile, he shut down any rumours that he was considering taking his life.
He said: "If I die and you read that I commit suicide, they lied. Because if I was going to do that I would take everyone with me."
Meanwhile, the star also said he doesn't "like being a celebrity" and thinks he has "outgrown the spotlight".
He added: "I don't like being a celebrity. It's difficult because you don't want to become a caricature of yourself, and you don't want to be a cliché ... sometimes I wonder if I have outgrown the spotlight."
