After her concert at the AccorHotels Arena, Madonna invited fans to join her at Place de la Republique, the site of a memorial to victims of the November 13 terrorist attacks, where she sang "songs for peace" with her son David Banda and guitarist Monte Pittman.

Madonna wrote on Twitter: "Im singing some songs in place de la republique. Meet me there now #Paris . #rightnow #aftershow #rebelheartour (sic)."

She sang a number of her own songs, including 'Like a Prayer' and also chose some tracks from other artists, such as John Lennon's 'Imagine'.

Madonna, 57, was joined by a crowd of fans at the impromptu gig and finished off by blowing kisses and shouting the word "peace".

Speaking previously about her decision to continue the European leg of her 'Rebel Heart' tour after the terrorist attacks in Paris last month, in which 130 people died, Madonna admitted she was "torn".

She said: "I feel torn, like why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones? However, that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. And we won't let them."
