Madonna has met the First Lady of Kenya.
The 57-year-old singer songwriter - who is currently visiting Kenya with Shining Hope for Communities, a charitable organisation which links free schools for girls to services for communities such as clean water and free health care, has met with Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta - the wife of the country's president, Uhuru Kenyatta - to talk about "eliminating" mortality among mothers and babies.
The 'Ray of Light' singer shared a picture of her alongside Margaret on her Instagram account, which she captioned: "Meeting with Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta, the first lady of Kenya! Learning about her Beyond Zero Campaign which targets eliminating maternal and child mortality in Kenya and hoping to join forces to promote Female Empowerment! Around the World! happy 4th! (sic)."
Meanwhile, the mother of four - who has children Lourdes, 19, and Rocco, 15, as well as her two adopted children Mercy and David, both 10, - has visited Kibera, Africa's biggest slum, during the trip to raise awareness of the poor living conditions in the country.
Alongside one picture of young children she simply wrote: "Striking a Pose in Kibera! Rebel Hearts"
She also posted a picture of a litter-strewn river and wrote: "Imagine this is where your water comes from! @shofco is working to change this in Kibera, Africa's largest slum.(sic)"
The '4 Minutes' singer has also urged her fans to follow the Instagram page for her charity, Raising Malawi, to keep up to date with her philanthropic efforts.
Madonna - who adopted her two youngest children from Malawi - wrote: "Follow my new account @raisingmalawi and find out what we are doing next and how and what you can do to help!"
The new account features a number of images of the organisation's work, as well as a link to donate to the charity.
The donation page states: "Help feed a child. Help educate a girl. Help provide life-saving surgeries.
"This page is for general donations to Raising Malawi."
