Luke Evans has confirmed he has split from Rafael Olarra.
The ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actor was rumoured to have split from the art director last October after they unfollowed one another on Instagram and the 41-year-old star removed traces of their relationship from their account, and he’s now admitted he is single again.
He simply said of the split: “It is what it is.”
While he is now single, the ‘Clash of the Titans’ actor has been thinking about fatherhood and admitted he wants to have kids before he’s “old”.
He said: “I thought about it many times and as I get older I’m thinking maybe I should get on and do it. I don’t want to be an old dad . . . but I would like to be a dad.
“There’s a lot of satisfaction to passing on your experiences and rearing a strong, open-minded, kind, respectful human being who can go out in the world and do something good.”
Luke has been busy shooting ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ in Australia, in which he plays divorce lawyer Lars, and admitted it was “nice” to portray a gay character on screen for the first time.
He said: “It was a lovely character to delve into and to calibrate and deliver this complex person.
“But, yes, it was nice to play a gay character after all these years of doing roles on stage and screen.”
Luke believes the acting industry is slowly improving in terms of equality in casting.
Asked if he thinks there is equality in casting now, he told The Times' Saturday Review: “I don’t know. All I can answer is that from a personal point of view, I’ve played many different roles and I think things are changing on a daily basis.
“There is definitely a very strong, loud dialogue about equality within the industry and getting the right person for the right role — which I think is what it comes down to.”
