The One Direction singer - who turns 24 on Christmas Eve (24.12.15) - has spent much of the past week in Chicago with his latest love interest, actress Danielle Campbell, but left the US on Tuesday night (22.12.15).
His mother Johannah Deakin wrote on Twitter on Wednesday (23.12.15): "Looking forward to seeing my biggest boy today. Birthday baking this morning xx (sic)."
Louis and 'The Originals' actress Danielle were first spotted together last month and Louis jetted to Chicago to spend some time with the star and her family over the weekend.
They were spotted cuddling while out for ice-cream together earlier in the week, with a source telling E! News: "He was behind her and had his arms around her. It was really sweet!
"They seemed cuddly - he was holding her for a little while."
And a fan also shared a photo of the pair cuddling at the cafe on Twitter alongside a caption, which read: "Louis in Chicago at Oberweis ice cream with Danielle! (sic)"
One Direction are currently enjoying an extended hiatus after five relentless years but 2016 will be a busy one for Louis who is expecting his first child with stylist Briana Jungwirth.
The Los Angeles -based stylist is pregnant following a brief fling with the 'History' singer.
