The soccer-mad pop star has bought virtual coins on the gaming black market so he could improve his 'FIFA 15' squad, but the transaction is forbidden by game-maker EA Sports, which considers it to be cheating.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Technically it is against the rules of the game but he's not the only one who does this.

"A lot of people buy coins to better their team.

"You can buy packs officially from the game but there's a good chance in those packs you will get some bad players, so people buy the coins to get better players."

The transaction can lead to players being banned from the game full-time, with EA warning that it has already banned "hundreds of thousands" of people from 'FIFA 15'.

The game-maker says: "Buying and selling coins is not authorised and amounts to cheating in FIFA Ultimate Team."

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old pop star recently revealed he's keen to go travelling when One Direction begin their hiatus, while he would also like the group to go on a lads' holiday together.

He shared: "We talk about having a lads' holiday, which could be massive. Even when we have like, two weeks off, by the time we have a couple days off and get back to work, we're all raring to see each other again."
