Louis Smith is friends with Lucy Mecklenburgh again.
The 27-year-old gymnast ended his year-long romance with the former 'The Only Way is Essex' star on bad terms back in February - five weeks after they returned from celebrating their one year anniversary in Thailand - but they've now managed to create a platonic relationship.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Louis said: "Yeah things are a lot better. I would go as far as to saying that we're friends now which is what I always wanted to happen because it wasn't a vicious break up, it just wasn't right."
However, although Louis was the reason their relationship came crashing down, he has admitted he was in love with Lucy and thought she was a "very good" girlfriend.
He explained: "To get into the position that we're in now obviously I needed to say what wasn't right in the relationship, which isn't nice to hear from her end, so I think a bit of time gone by - they say time heals all wounds - so I'd like to say that we're civil and we're friends again. We chat now and again, and we're still in contact, which is nice because she was a good friend, she was a very good girlfriend and I did love her a lot."
And, despite going through the tough split just three months ago, Louis hasn't been put off finding love again.
Asked where he sees himself in five years time, he said: "I can see myself settling down 100 per cent. It's hard to say that now because I've split from a relationship but five years' time, who knows..."
The duo first started dating in December 2014 after meeting on BBC gymnastic show 'Tumble' earlier that year.
Louis, as an ambassador for the Great Starts campaign, invited Kellogg's to film his morning routine ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio this summer.
The public are being urged to share how they start the day right by using #GreatStarts which will enter them into an exclusive competition to win a pair of tickets to the Olympic Games. Visitwww.kelloggs.co.uk/greatstarts for further information
