Winona Ryder doesn't really use the internet.
The 52-year-old actress has revealed that she doesn't "live life online" and rarely surfs the worldwide web, preferring to live in the real world.
She told the new issue of Esquire magazine: "I don’t live my life online."
When asked if she ever uses the internet, she said: "I know how to use it," and when quizzed on if she searches for things on 'Google', she added: “I have.”
Winona's main gripe with the internet is the creation and rise of social media, and she fears that the instant gratification provided by apps like TikTok and Instagram has stopped the younger generation from engaging with true artforms.
She said: "I just think that social media has changed everything, and I know I sound old. I’m very aware of that. And part of me thinks, ‘Gosh, am I like vaudeville at this point?’ Like [elderly lady voice], ‘Hey, kids, turn down the music!’
“But I just think there was such an abundance: the history of film, the history of photography, it’s so rich, and there’s so much there, and I don’t mean we should go backwards, but I wish and I hope that the younger generation will study that.”
Meanwhile, Winona admitted it is "nuts" to have been part of such a hugely popular show as 'Stranger Things' for so long.
The Golden Globe winner - who plays Joyce Byers in the Netflix sci-fi series - said: "Ten years! I never thought. [At first] I was like, ‘I don’t want to be doing this when I’m in my 50s!’ It’s nuts, and its extra nuts to be my age. But I love the boys and I love [the actors] Sadie [Sink] and Maya [Hawke]. It’s been really wonderful.
“I’ve gone from being the youngest person on set to being the oldest. And I’m not oblivious in any way about the reason they came to me for it. I know there is an element of nostalgia [to my casting].”
The Autumn issue of Esquire UK is on sale now.
