Lindsay Lohan is considering converting to Islam.
The 29-year-old actress was spotted holding a Koran on the first day of her community service at a New York children's centre last year and has now revealed she is "open to learning" about the Muslim faith.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: "I'm not done reading it. Do you know how long that would take? It takes so long. I'm a very spiritual person and I'm really open to learning.
"America has portrayed holding a Koran in such a different way to what it actually is. We all believe in something and at the end of the day it all ties to a god or a spiritual adviser. We all have a similar belief in whatever it may be personally."
Lindsay - the daughter of divorced couple Michael and Dina Lohan - says her family is very open-minded when it comes to religion and her younger sister Ali Lohan, 22, is a practising Buddhist.
She added: "My sister is Buddhist but she is still interested in learning other things from me. It's good to be open-minded."
The 'Mean Girls' star who was ordered to undertake 125 hours of voluntary work as part of her punishment stemming from a reckless driving incident in 2012 has also served 14 days in prison for drink driving in 2010.
Despite her numerous legal and personal troubles, Lindsay has learned to de-stress and clear her mind through meditation.
She said: "It all comes down to meditation or me. I do this thing called tapping. I used it when I did 'The Jonathan Ross Show' because he was going down the jail route. I was getting uncomfortable so had to do it.
"I can hear every conversation in a room. I hear everything and I notice everything so I have to teach myself to shut my brain off."
