Limahl was "one second" away from being hit by a double decker bus and wants to "enjoy every day" of his life.
The 'One Wish For Christmas' singer - who recently released the festive track to bring some hope to 2020 - admitted he didn't tell his loved ones about the near miss right away because he knew they'd be upset, and he was shaken by the experience.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Two and a half years ago, I nearly checked out of this life. The pandemic, to me, was two and a half years ago when I nearly got hit by a double decker bus in Central London.
"It missed me by one second at full speed, I was on a motorbike and God, it took my breath away. I realised after it happened, and I didn't sleep well that night.
"I didn't tell my partner, I didn't tell my family - I didn't tell my mother for three months because I knew she would have freaked out.
"But yeah, that was a big wake up call for me, so I already had that in my mind - enjoy every day, make the most of life. You never know what's round the corner!"
Many people have reassessed their priorities during the coronavirus pandemic, but the former Kajagoogoo star insisted he's "always had really good values", while admitting he is "a bit scared".
He added: "I'm a bit nervous of the virus, because I'm 62, I used to smoke - although I gave up 20 years ago.
"I worked in nightclubs for four or five years when I was late teens, early 20s - which were very smoky back then! You just don't know!
"So I've always been a bit scared. I've swore I had the virus three times in the last eight months, that awful moment when you're thinking 'Oh God' because you get a pain in your chest or something!"
Meanwhile, the 'Never Ending Story' hitmaker also gave "some credit" to his partner Steve and described him as his "rock".
He said: "I've been with him for 27 years actually this month, and he's been my rock, really. He's just the best. Just the best. I just kissed him goodbye as I came out the door!"
