Liam Gallagher was mistaken for Sacha Baron Cohen at Cannes Film Festival.
The 43-year-old rocker was in town to showcase his new Oasis documentary 'Supersonic' but was taunted by local media who shouted "Sacha, Sacha!" as they tried to take pictures of the person they thought was the 44-year-old actor dressed up as his football hooligan alter ego, Norman 'Nobby' Grimsby.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "It got a little embarrassing. Liam was in town to show his new Oasis documentary but a lot of the press here simply didn't recognise him.
"They just saw the hair and assumed it was Sacha dressed as Nobby doing another publicity stunt."
Sacha - who debuted his new character earlier this year and arrived at the premiere of his movie 'Grimsby' in February dressed only in blue cotton Y-front pants, a turtle-neck jumper, socks and hotel slippers and clasping at a beer - was thankfully not in attendance at the prestigious event held in France.
The pair have had a tempestuous relationship in the past, with Liam once threatening to "stab" the actor - who loves to mock celebrities - "in the eye".
However, the comic spawned one of the most memorable Cannes moment ever in 2006 when he came dressed as Kazakhstan's "most notorious TV personality", Borat, and sported a fluorescent mankini and a moustache, becoming the talk of the world-famous film festival that year.
Meanwhile, Liam attended the event with his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther and introduced the upcoming documentary about Oasis - who split in August 2009 following a string of explosive rows - at an intimate screening, and revealed that being in the band with his brother Noel Gallagher was as exciting and unpredictable as driving a Ferrari.
The 'Wonderwall' singer said: "Oasis was definitely like a f*****g Ferrari, great to look at, great to drive and it will f*****g spin out of control every now and again when you go too fast. I loved every minute of it."
