Lewis Hamilton is enjoying the single life.

The formula 1 hunk split from his long-time girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, 37, 10 months ago following a seven-year romance but, rather than wallow in heartache, he's keen to make the most of the solo life and focus on his career.

He explained: "It's different. I've been in two relationships in my life, [one when] I was 18 to 22 and [then] 23 to 30 and so I missed the single life that all my friends had.

"Now I've just been throwing myself at work, I've worked harder than ever this year, I've travelled like crazy, I've experienced everything I wanted to experience."

But that doesn't mean the handsome sportsman, who has been romantically linked to Kendall Jenner and Rihanna, isn't still having the "occasional" companionship.

He added: "I'm enjoying it, it's really good fun, it's a fun period of time in my life."

Meanwhile, Lewis - who crashed his car last month in Monaco following a night out - is keen to let his hair down a little more next year as he believes it benefits his performance on the track.

Speaking on the 'Jonathan Ross Show,' he said: "Up until this year, I sacrificed everything so I never ever really went out. Last year I think I might have gone out three times, it's probably a bit too extreme.

"I think this year I don't have any regrets about anything that happened this year and things I didn't do, I just tried to make sure I juggled everything... Not surprisingly I drove better than ever so I'm going to keep going out!"
