Lena Dunham is hoping Jack Antonoff will be "creative" when he eventually pops the question.
The couple were recently rumoured to have already gotten engaged after she was spotted wearing a band on her ring finger, but whilst that's not the case, the actress did reveal that even Jack's mother was fooled by the speculation and had to phone her son to check.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Lena explained: "My boyfriend was like, 'My mom called asking if we're engaged?' She has a Google Alert on him.
"I also just want to say, if we're going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year's Eve. We don't want to be basic."
Her fellow Girls co-executive producer Jenni Konner revealed that the confusion came because the star was wearing their matching friendship rings on her engagement finger, but her pal admitted that she did love hearing the rumours.
"We have friendship rings. They're a stack of three. We both wear them on that finger for some reason - that's the finger they fit on - and those are our friendship rings.
"When they announced that she was wearing an engagement ring, I was like, 'Yeah, to me!'"
Lena went on to add: "Yeah, we're engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life."
