Lena Dunham doesn't even "look at Twitter anymore."

Lena Dunham
The 'Girls' creator and star admits she recently stopped managing her account and writing her own tweets on the social networking site because she online bullies were creating some "cancerous stuff inside" her.
The 29-year-old star said: "I don't look at Twitter anymore. I tweet, but I do it through someone else. I don't even know my Twitter password, which may make me seem like I'm no longer a sort of genuine community user. I really appreciate that anybody follows me at all, and so I didn't want to cut off my relationship to it completely, but it really, truly wasn't a safe space for me.
"Even if you think, like, 'Oh I can read, like, 10 mentions that say I should be stoned to death' and kind of, like, laugh and move on. That's verbal abuse. Those aren't words that should be directed at you ever. And so, for me personally, it was safer to stop [using Twitter]."
While Lena still runs her own Instagram account because she feels "it's a more positive community," she was shocked by the "verbal violence" she was subjected to when she uploaded a photograph of herself wearing her boyfriend Jack Antonoff's underwear last week.
She told Re/code's Kara Swisher: "It wasn't a graphic picture. I was wearing men's boxers and it turned into the most rabid, disgusting debate about women's bodies, and my Instagram page was somehow the hub for misogynists for the afternoon."
