LeAnn Rimes was afraid to be alone before she went to rehab.

The country singer, who checked into a treatment centre for anxiety last August, admits she cried every day and couldn't get out of bed before seeking help, and believes her problems stemmed from growing up in the spotlight.

She said: "I had been crying all day, staying in bed. I've had all eyes on me since I was 13, so there was a lot to sift through. I started dealing with emotions I had ignored.

"I was afraid to be in the world alone. There was always someone around - my parents, [her ex-husband] Dean, my bandmates, Eddie. I wanted to take care of myself."

LeAnn also puts her weight loss - which sparked concern for her weight in late 2010 - down to her nerves, and is adamant she never had an eating disorder.

She added to People magazine: "I look back and I think, 'I was small,' but I've never had an [eating problem], and I can say that 100 percent confidently. But I was stressed, some people gain weight, some people lose weight."
