Leah Remini thinks the Church of Scientology give children "inflated egos"
The 45-year-old actress grew up as part of the church and whilst she admits it was hard being treated as a "spiritual being" rather than a child, she was still devastated to "give up everything" she ever knew.
Speaking on ABC's 20/20, she said: "Your ego becomes extremely inflated. Because Scientologists view children as spiritual beings, you're not treated as a kid."
Of defecting, she added: "The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life.
"I feel that people need to understand this has been my whole life. I want them to understand how it happens."
The 'King of Queens' star previously admitted she decided to leave for the sake of her 11-year-old daughter Sofia.
She explained previously: "I decided I didn't want to raise my daughter in the church because from what I've experienced and what I saw, was the church becomes your everything ... your mother, your father, your everything."
Now, Leah is releasing a tell-all memoir titled 'Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,' in which she promises to lift the lid on her "remarkable journey toward emotional and spiritual freedom, both for herself and for her family".
