Lea Michele admits she is still trying to "figure out" how to move on in the wake of her boyfriend Cory Monteith's shock death at the age of 31 in July.

The 27-year-old actress has been grieving for Cory ever since he died in July at the age of just 31 from an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Lea admits his shock passing is still very raw to her, but she is slowly coming to terms with the death of her 'Glee' co-star - who she met in 2009 when they were both cast in the musical TV show and had been in a relationship with since late 2011.

During an appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', which will air today (12.12.13), she said: "I really feel like I'm still trying to figure out all of this. It's been only a few months, but my mom has experienced a lot of loss in her life and she told me at one point, there is an empowerment that comes with grief - at some point you find it. It's very hard but you will find it, and I think at a certain point you can choose to sort of fall from this or you can choose to rise. And that's what I'm just trying to do my best for him, because I know that that's what he would have wanted."

Lea added she hopes to "make something positive for where I go in the rest of my life".

The brunette beauty is incredibly grateful for the support her parents, Edith and Marc, have provided to her during this darkest of times.

Lea's mother and father have even moved from their home in New York City to Los Angeles to care for their daughter, and she isn't sure if she could have coped without their love.

'Glee' guest star Kate Hudson also came to her aid and offered Lea the use of her home to escape the circus surrounding Cory's death and grieve in peace.

She explained: "It's certainly been a pretty rough year, but I've been surrounded by such great people, such great family ... Kate was so wonderful to basically give her home to myself and my family.

"It was so helpful to just basically have a safe place to process and just have a minute to just breathe before getting back to my house, which just has a lot of memories and stuff, so being someplace else to just have a moment was really nice ... I'm just so thankful to her."
